Unpopular opinion: I stopped using a pencil on trim and switched to blue tape, am I nuts?
For 12 years I marked every cut on crown and base with a sharp pencil, then last spring in Tulsa I watched a guy lay blue tape along the cut line and mark that instead, no sanding, no ghost lines on painted poplar. Which camp are you in, and did anyone else fight the switch for months like I did?
Man, I gotta disagree on this one. Tape works fine on flat stuff but the second you hit a profile or crown with any curve to it, that edge wanders on you and your cut is off before you even pull the saw out. I'll take a sharp pencil any day, a light line on trim sands out in two seconds anyway.
