Lost a whole week of pay on one bad stair job
Framed a set of stairs for a house in Oakville last Tuesday. Client wanted oak treads with a 30 inch rise and I miscalculated the stringer layout by a half inch. Had to rip out 14 risers and redo the whole thing, cost me $1,200 in materials and three days of work. Has anyone else had a project spiral like that where you just couldn't catch the mistake early?

Wait, don't you mean a 30 inch TREAD run, not rise?

Tried that exact setup last year. 30 inch tread runs work fine for normal stairs but feels weird on long landings. Stick with 11 inch treads and adjust the riser height instead.
