I finally walked into a newly built house and saw what the framers left behind
Stopped by a spec house my buddy is finishing up in the new development over by the old mill site. Walked into the master bedroom and there's a 2x4 nailed into the wall holding up nothing, sticking out like a sore thumb. The framers just left it there after they tied off the temporary bracing. Then I noticed they buried a plastic water bottle behind the drywall too, I pulled it out and it still had half a drink in it. You think the homeowner is ever gonna find that bottle when it starts smelling 5 years from now? How do you guys handle cleanup on big production builds when the framers are long gone?

I used to think framers were pretty good about cleaning up after themselves until I found a half-empty Gatorade bottle behind some insulation in my own house. Now I see that kind of stuff ALL the time on big jobs, it's basically a given they'll leave trash and random lumber. Best you can do is walk the whole place with a good flashlight before drywall goes up and pull out anything that doesn't belong.
