Saw a stat about remote work and it's not what I expected

I was reading a report from a big job site, I think it was Indeed, about remote jobs. They said that even though a lot of people want to work from home, the number of fully remote job postings has actually dropped by about 15% in the last year. I was really surprised because it feels like everyone is still talking about it. I've been looking for a new marketing role and I keep filtering for 'remote' but there just aren't as many options as there were even six months ago. It makes me wonder if companies are quietly pulling back on it. Has anyone else noticed this while job hunting, or is it just my specific field? I'm starting to think I might need to be more open to hybrid roles.

Yeah, that stat lines up with what I've seen too. I was dead set on a fully remote role last year and it took forever, I had to widen my search to hybrid after months of nothing. What helped me was setting my location filter to a big city a few hours away, since those companies are more likely to offer remote even if they list as hybrid. It's a pain, but you might find more options that way.

Remember hearing a manager say remote work was a temporary fix, not a real policy. Makes sense now that they're calling people back to the office for "culture". Feels like a lot of companies just waited for the heat to die down before changing things.

Bet I had a manager literally tell us "just weather the storm until we can get back to normal" back in 2021.
