People keep confusing consequences with cancellation and it bugs me
I see it all the time in here and on other sites. Someone loses a job for posting a slur on company time and folks call it cancel culture. That's not cancellation, that's cause and effect. I worked HR for 9 years at a plant in Toledo, we fired people for that stuff long before the internet cared. The real cancel stuff is when a 14 year old gets doxxed for a bad joke on TikTok, that's a different animal. Has anyone else drawn that line differently, or am I just old school?

Someone loses a job for posting a slur on company time" is exactly the case my buddy ran into last year. He worked at a small warehouse, and this guy on the night shift tweeted something gross about his boss using the company wifi. Got fired the next day. My friend said everyone at work called it cancel culture, but the boss just showed them the screenshot and said "this violates our social media policy." Same thing happened in 2018 at his old place, way before anyone used that term. People just forget that jobs have rules, you know?
