My old band's song hit 10,000 streams after someone dug up a problematic tweet from 2012 and posted a 'deep dive' video about it.

The algorithm pushed the song to a whole new audience who listened just to hear what the fuss was about, which makes me wonder if public shaming now functions more as a discovery engine than actual accountability. Has anyone else seen their work get boosted by controversy instead of buried?

Outrage machine fuels the algorithm" really changed my mind.

A buddy's podcast got a huge bump after a guest went on a wild rant. The clips got shared everywhere as a "what is wrong with this guy" thing, and his downloads tripled. So yeah, the outrage machine definitely fuels the algorithm now.
