Heard a client say they'd never hire someone with a 'bad tweet' from 2012
I was finishing a paint job in a Portland office last week. The manager was talking to a new hire. Said they passed on a great candidate because of a single, dumb joke found from over a decade ago. The candidate was 19 then. It just felt off. Like judging a house by the primer coat, not the final finish. Has anyone else seen this kind of permanent record thing happen?

My old boss in Seattle used to check MySpace pages. He passed on a solid mechanic for some cringe song lyrics he posted in 2006. The guy was probably 16. Guess we're all supposed to be born fully formed with perfect judgment.

Honestly @bennett.james, does anyone ever really grow up if we keep getting judged for who we were as kids? It feels like we're all just supposed to pretend we never did dumb stuff. That boss probably forgot his own past to make those calls.

That's wild he held a kid's MySpace against them. Does your boss ever worry about what his own old posts look like? Feels like a double standard.
