Still split on whether to use compressed air or a blower brush for sensor cleaning after a coworker insisted canned air was fine and I watched him blow dust deeper into a shutter mechanism last Wednesday

He said 'it's the same thing just cheaper' but now I'm out $200 on a replacement shutter and wondering if I was wrong to let him try, has anyone else had that exact argument go sideways on them?

That coworker owe you a new shutter, or at least a case of your preferred cleaning method. Did he offer to chip in for the repair or just shrug and say "whoops"? I'm curious how much pushback you gave him before he went for it, because I would have grabbed the camera out of his hands.
