The guy in Mesa who watched me run 200 feet of coax and asked if I was "one of them satellite people"
Was doing a triple play install last month in Mesa, older guy, must've been 70s. I'm up on his roof mounting the dish and he keeps yelling stuff at me through the screen door. Finally he comes out and asks if I'm "one of them satellite people" like I'm some kind of alien. I said nah sir, I'm here to get your internet and phone working, and he just nods and goes back inside. Haven't stopped thinking about it since, feels like half my customers think I'm either selling something or spying on them. Any of you get the weird questions like that on the regular?
Reminds me of when I walked into a lady's backyard to bury a line and she came out holding a broom like I was gonna rob her in broad daylight. I had to stand there with my hands up like a bank teller explaining that the phone company sent me. My uniform said CENTURYLINK across the whole chest and she still looked at me like I had three heads. Best part is she called the office later to say some strange man was creeping around and they had to tell her yeah, we know, we sent him. Half the job is doing the work, the other half is proving you're not a criminal or an alien.
