That $40 Klein crimper I swore was a gimmick just saved me a re-run

Look, I've been using the same cheapo crimpers for 7 years and figured the fancy ones were just splurging. Three days ago in Denver, I had a 400 foot drop from a pole to a basement and my old tool mangled the connector twice. Borrowed my partner's Klein impact-rated crimper on the last try and it seated perfect on the first squeeze, no double crimping or re-stripping. The ratchet mechanism actually held the connector steady while I cranked, which my old one would just slip on. Now I'm kinda pissed at myself for being stubborn about it for so long, cause that one tool probably paid for itself in avoided truck rolls. Anyone else hold out on a piece of gear forever and then kick yourself when you finally try it?

Honestly, "mangled the connector twice" is basically the origin story of every tool upgrade I've ever had. Ngl, my wallet hates how much I relate to that.

Oh man, the "mangled the connector twice" part hits way too close to home. I fought getting better crimpers for years and finally caved after a similar nightmare with a big drop. Now I'm mad I didn't do it sooner, the ratchet is a total game changer.
