Overheard a customer say custom cabinets are a rip off

I was at a hardware store last week and this guy was telling his wife that custom cabinets are just a scam to charge 3x more. He said they just use the same plywood as the big box stores. I wanted to say something but I kept my mouth shut. The difference is in the joinery, the finishing, the time spent fitting each door. I had to replace a set of those store bought cabinets last month that fell apart after 4 years. Has anyone else had customers who think they can get the same quality from a flat pack for half the price?

Ain't it funny how people will drop three grand on a phone but balk at paying for something built to last? It's like we've all been trained to see the sticker price instead of what the thing's actually worth. The cheap stuff seems fine until you're living with doors that won't close square.

@sam17 bro have you seen how much some of those "cheap" phones cost now too though? lol. Crazy how folks will flex with a new iPhone every year but then cry about spending $200 extra on a solid piece of furniture that'll outlive them. My buddy still has a dining table from the 70s his grandpa built, meanwhile my sister's on her third coffee table in five years cause the particle board keeps splitting.
