Shoutout to the guy at the Cleveland flea market who talked me out of a $60 'vintage' toaster
I was about to hand over $60 for a chrome toaster that looked straight out of 1955, and the vendor's buddy leaned in and said 'the cord on that one is cloth wrapped, you can't replace it when it frays.' He pulled the bottom plate off right there on the table and showed me the heating element was already sagging. That was 8 months ago and I still think about it every time I see marked up old appliances at a flea market. The guy didn't even work there, he just didn't want to watch a stranger get burned. What's the best save a random stranger ever talked you out of buying?
