Fixed a crew fight by doing a live demo on the floor
We had a fight about how to cut a big piece of meat. I did not talk, I just showed them how I do it. It was faster and we all saw it work. Now we teach new guys this way. Our team gets along better.

That bit about not talking and just showing them how you do it is the real deal. I've been stuck watching two people argue over the wrong way to do something for way too long. Pulling out the right way and just doing it shuts the whole debate down fast.

Exactly! I fixed a printer jam last week the same way. Two guys were arguing over the manual, I just popped the panel open and cleared it. Suddenly everyone knew how.

What if showing them doesn't always stop the argument? Like @simonb92 said, pulling out the right way can shut things down, but I've seen cases where people get mad you didn't include them. Once, I cleared a paper jam without a word, and the guy who was arguing just got quieter, never really learned how. It's like they feel shown up. Maybe a quick 'watch this' before you act gives them a chance to follow along. That way, they see the fix and save face too.
