Lost a 50-table catering gig because I didn't read the contract close enough

I was at a coffee shop in Portland last month reviewing a contract for a wedding catering job worth 4 grand and skipped over a clause about needing a backup generator. Power went out at the venue, I had no backup, and the bride's family went ballistic. Anyone else ever get burned by a tiny detail in a contract that you totally missed?

Contract's a contract, you gotta own that one.

Yeah, "contract's a contract" hits hard. I once signed up for a year of gym membership thinking I'd go every day. Three months in and I was stuck paying for it. Learned my lesson, gotta read the fine print.

Wait, did you not have a generator in your truck or did you just never think about it?
