Rant: my best friend of 12 years bailed on my wedding rehearsal dinner
Last month in Denver, my so-called best friend since high school texted me 2 hours before the dinner saying he couldn't make it because his 'dog was anxious'. He didn't even call, and I found out later from his sister he was at a bar with people I'd never met. We'd paid $380 for his seat and he never offered to cover it. Has anyone else had a close friend just vanish when you needed them most, and did you ever get a real reason out of them?

Wow, that's a gut punch and honestly that whole "anxious dog" excuse sounds like a cover for something way deeper than a bar hop! Sounds like he checked out of the friendship way before that night, and the $380 just became the price to see his true colors.
