Tried the 'blow out' method for cleaning my framing nailer and got a face full of oil

I was out on a job in Austin last week and picked up a used Senco nailer that was gunked up bad. Read online that blowing compressed air through the exhaust port would clear it, so I gave it a shot without disassembling it first. Instead of cleaning it, I just sprayed hot oil all over my safety glasses and shirt. Now I'm debating if stripping it down manually is worth the 45 minutes vs just buying a rebuild kit for $22. Anyone else had a better result with the blow out trick or am I crazy for even trying it?

Yeah, skip the blowout trick. Strip it down, 45 minutes beats buying parts.

Gotta agree with @eva908 on this one. My buddy tried the blowout trick on his old Civic and it just made a bigger mess. He spent way more time cleaning up than if he'd just stripped it down from the start. 45 minutes is a solid time estimate too.
