Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I think the whole 'just add more screws' fix for a wobbly deck is a band-aid on a broken leg
I was on a job in Portland last year where the homeowner insisted I just add a box of 3-inch deck screws to a 20-foot section that was sagging, but after pulling off a board I found the main ledger was completely rotted away from a hidden gutter leak.
