Five years of cutting 2x4s with the blade on backwards

Had a helper stop me last Tuesday and ask why my saw was smoking. I said it's old. He flipped the blade around and suddenly it cut like butter. I've been fighting that saw since 2019. Anyone else go years without checking the obvious?

Huh, that's a rough one but I gotta say, running a blade backwards for years probably did more damage to the motor than just making it smoke. The wood dust and heat had to be working that thing overtime, so you might want to check the bearings before the saw gives out completely. Still, I bet it felt good to finally get a clean cut for once, right?

The bearings are probably toast if he ran it backwards that long, all that extra friction would've cooked them. Could be cheaper to just grab a whole new saw than rebuild the motor at this point lol. But yeah, that first clean cut must've been pure relief after years of burning wood.
