Deck ledger board debate: I used structural screws for the fix, but the crew argues for lag bolts

I solved my deck sag with structural screws, but the debate with my crew on lag bolts has me second-guessing, so what's your opinion?

Been there with the crew second guessing a fix. Trust your repair if it's holding solid now. Those structural screws do the same job as lags anyway.

Nah, I gotta disagree on this one. Those structural screws can snap under shear way easier than a real lag bolt. Seen it happen on a job last year, not worth the risk if you ask me.

Stick with your screws for that fix. I've watched them hold up decks just fine for years without any trouble. They're literally made for this job.
