Wrote off overnight buses for a decade, then a hostel desk guy in Lisbon showed me his receipt
I always paid extra for daytime trains because I figured night buses were a scam with no sleep and hidden fees. Last month in Lisbon, the guy working the hostel desk pulled out a receipt from his own trip to Seville. The bus cost 19 euros and the train was 47. Same route, same day, about 4 hours each way. He said he books the 11pm bus, sleeps the whole ride, and gets into town with a full day ahead of him. I tried it two nights later and saved enough to cover my hostel for the next two nights. Does anyone have a good site for comparing night bus routes across countries, or do you just check each company one by one?
