Why does nobody talk about the money saved from long visa waits?

I applied for a tourist visa months before my trip, thinking I was being smart. The office said it would take a month, but it dragged on for ten whole weeks! I was annoyed and kept watching flight prices, sure they would go up. Then, right when I got my visa approved, I saw flights had dropped like crazy just days before departure. Because I had to wait, I booked my ticket for way less than I planned to spend. Now I realize that being forced to wait can actually help you catch last-minute deals. I've used this trick twice since then and saved over $300 total. It's not fun to be patient, but it sure pays off for budget travel!

Yeah but that only works if you don't care where you stay. I tried waiting once for a trip to Lisbon and all the good, cheap hostels were totally booked. Saved $80 on the flight but spent way more on a gross hotel farther out, lol. Forcing a delay is just bad planning most of the time.

But doesn't that depend on the destination season too?

Forced delays often make us find smarter solutions we'd never consider otherwise.
