The $70 layover trick my hostel manager talked me out of
I almost paid $70 for a 6 hour layover "city tour" package in Atlanta last month. The hostel manager, this guy named Dave, told me to just take the MARTA train for $5 each way and walk around Midtown myself. I was skeptical because I hate figuring out transit in a new city with a backpack. But he was right, I saw the aquarium from outside, grabbed some cheap tacos at a spot he recommended near Ponce City Market, and still had time to nap in the airport terminal. Saved $60 and honestly had a better time than a group tour. Has anyone else skipped the packaged excursions and just winged it with public transit? The MARTA card thing still confuses me though, is it reloadable or do you buy a new one each trip?

Wait, you actually trusted a guy named Dave at a hostel to save you money?
