The 6AM bus trick I picked up in Lisbon saved my whole Portugal trip
Last month I caught the first bus out to Sintra and had the whole Pena Palace trail to myself until 8. The afternoon crowds were three deep at the ticket window. Anyone else found that shifting your schedule by a few hours beats any discount code?
...and honestly I don't get the hype. Like yeah, you got some quiet time at a castle, but is that really worth waking up at like 5am on vacation? I've done the early bird thing before and half the time the place isn't even fully open yet, you're just standing around waiting for someone to unlock a gate. Plus Sintra in the morning is cold and foggy a lot of the time anyway, you miss the whole view. I'd rather sleep in, roll in at noon, and just accept the crowd for what it is. It's a tourist spot, you're a tourist, it's fine.
