Rant: a hostel guy in Lisbon told me my $400 flight mistake cost me $180
I used to book my flights on Fridays after work because that's when I had time to sit down. A guy running a hostel desk in Lisbon last fall watched me do it on my phone and told me straight up that I was paying about $180 more per round trip than I needed to, and I laughed at him. He pulled up his own booking history on the spot and showed me four Tuesday morning fares to the same cities for way less. I switched to booking on Tuesdays about 6 weeks out ever since, and my last trip to Phoenix came in at $212 round trip instead of the $390 I was seeing on a Friday. That one comment saved me enough for two extra nights of lodging on a 5 day trip. Now I want to hear if this Tuesday thing actually holds up for anyone else, or was that just a lucky week at that hostel?
