Prepaid Tour Bus in Rome was a total cash pit

Booked that hop on hop off bus for 3 days in Rome because the website made it look like a steal. Paid $45 up front and thought I was smart skipping the per ride tickets. Turned out half the stops were closed for construction near the Colosseum and the audio guide kept glitching on my phone. By day two I was just using the metro for 1.50 a ride and the bus sat useless in my wallet. I basically threw away $30 that could have bought me three solid pasta dinners near Trastevere. Anyone else get burned by those tourist passes that sound convenient but waste your cash?
