I called the $90 folding luggage rack a ripoff until a hostel in Lisbon proved me wrong
Two months back I was packing for a 3 week trip through Portugal and Spain, and my wife tossed a folding luggage rack in the cart at Target. It cost $89 and I told her it was the dumbest thing we could bring, since it takes up room and does one thing. Then we got to a hostel in Lisbon where they charge you per laundry load and every flat spot in the room was covered in our bags. Having that rack meant our clean clothes stayed off the floor and never got mixed with dirty stuff, so we did 2 washes instead of what would've been 4 or 5 at 6 euros each. On the next stop in Seville the room had zero counters and the rack became our kitchen table for bread and fruit from the market. I did the math on the flight home and it paid for itself just in laundry fees, plus we never lost a sock the whole trip. So yeah, I was wrong, and I want to hear what dumb looking item you brought that ended up being the MVP of your trip.
You washed clothes two whole times instead of four, that's the big win here? I've done laundry in hostel sinks for free and never needed a $90 rack to keep my socks sorted.
