Hit 40 flights in a year on a $200 flight pass, worth it or was I fooling myself?

I did the math after my 40th flight last month and it came out to about $28 per flight. That's crazy cheap if you're flexible, but I also missed a bunch of weekend trips because seats sold out fast. The pass worked for my Portland to Seattle runs, but I wonder if I would've been better off just using budget airlines and paying as I went. Anyone else track their per-flight cost and feel like they got a deal or got played?
