My landlord said to just paint over the mold instead of fixing the leak
So I moved into this apartment on Elm Street back in October, and within a month I noticed black mold creeping up the bathroom wall. My landlord, this guy named Jerry, told me to just buy a $8 can of Kilz and paint over it, said it would seal everything. I was skeptical but I needed the place to look decent for guests coming for Thanksgiving. So I did it, painted right over it, and honestly it looked fine for like two weeks. Then the mold came back worse than before, and now the paint is peeling off in chunks because the moisture was still there behind it. I ended up having to cut out the drywall myself and replace it, which cost me about $60 in materials. Has anyone else had a landlord try to pull a quick fix like this, and what did you actually do to get them to fix the real problem?

Painting over mold is a band aid, the leak needs fixing first.

3 coats of paint and it's still growing, solid plan.
