Why does nobody talk about how much money you can save by not buying pre-cut veggies?

I was at a cooking class in Austin where the instructor insisted on using pre-cut peppers, and it cost twice as much as buying whole ones. Has anyone else found a simple swap that cut their grocery bill way down?

Wait, the instructor at a paid class was using pre-cut peppers? That's wild to me, I mean you're there to learn how to cook. @nancy524 is right though, it's about the whole habit. I just buy a whole pepper and chop it myself, it takes like 45 seconds.

That cooking class in Austin is a perfect example. Pre-cut veggies do save time, but calling it a simple swap misses the bigger picture. The real savings come from changing your whole shopping routine, not just one item. I plan meals around what's on sale and in season, then prep everything on Sunday. It takes an hour, but it cuts my weekly bill by maybe 30 percent. The trick is building the habit, not just avoiding the pre-cut bag once.

Man, that reminds me of my buddy who tried to do the Sunday meal prep thing but forgot to eat his prepped broccoli for a week. He ended up throwing half of it out, so he basically paid double for the "convenience" of wasted food.
