Vent: A guy in a Reddit thread told me my $60 rice cooker math was off and he was right
I posted about buying a $60 rice cooker thinking I was being smart, and some guy with 12 years in restaurant kitchens broke down my cost per bowl. He pointed out I was only counting rice and not the electricity or the 20 minutes of my time standing there babysitting the pot. So I started tracking it for a month, and I was actually paying about 41 cents a bowl versus 18 cents with my old $15 pot from a garage sale in Mesa. Lesson learned, my upgrade was a downgrade and I had the numbers to prove it. Anyone else ever get humbled by a cost breakdown from a stranger online?
