Yeah but now you gotta deal with lighting charcoal which is basically a whole other argument with yourself.

Whoa wait, @king.stella are you telling me you actually have to light the charcoal yourself? I thought everyone just used one of those electric starters or a chimney these days. Honestly, I'd rather have a whole argument with someone else than deal with lighter fluid fumes and that weird taste it leaves on the food. The trick is to get a charcoal chimney and some newspaper, you light the paper and the coals catch in like 15 minutes with zero fuss. I refuse to ever go back to the old way of dousing bricks in fluid and hoping for the best.
