Told my barber I didn't want small talk anymore - the silence was brutal

Went to Frank's Barbershop on Main Street last Saturday. Sat down, he asked how work was, I just said 'let's skip the chatter today.' He nodded and we sat in complete silence for 20 minutes. Just the clippers and some guy's radio playing softly. It felt so awkward at first but then kinda peaceful? Has anyone else tried just... not talking during a haircut? How did the barber react?

Frank's on Main is closed since last year. You sure you went to the right place?

@ray189, so you're saying it's been closed that long and nobody in the thread caught it until now? I'm not doubting you but Frank's had that big neon sign out front, the one that was always half burnt out. Did you actually see a "closed for good" sign on the door or did you just hear it from someone?

So you're telling me Frank's has been gone for over a year and nobody even noticed until now? @ray189, did you actually walk past the boarded up windows or did you just drive by and assume it was open? I've seen people mistake the new ramen spot next door for the old diner because they both have red awnings. But Frank's was a landmark around here for thirty years, you'd think someone would have mentioned it if it really closed that long ago. Unless you're talking about a different Frank's entirely somewhere else in town.
