Appreciation post: The week I finally gave up on that fancy new pointing tool
Last Tuesday, I was working on a chimney rebuild in Cedar Rapids and decided to try the ProPoint 5000 everyone raves about. By Thursday, I had gone back to my old trowel and hawk. The new tool felt slow, it kept clogging, and I swear it added an extra hour to the job. My apprentice said I was just being stubborn, but finishing that chimney with my regular gear felt right. Has anyone else tried a 'better' tool and found it just got in the way?

Sometimes the new way is just better.

Oh sure, the ProPoint 5000. I think they designed it for people who have three hands and a deep love for cleaning mortar out of tiny holes. My version is still in the truck, holding down a tarp.

Wait what are you even talking about? "My version is still in the truck holding down a tarp"? The ProPoint 5000 is like a thousand dollar tool. You're literally using a high end mortar gun as a paperweight for your truck bed? That seems crazy to me unless you accidentally ordered the wrong thing and are too stubborn to return it. Did you actually try it on a real job or did you just look at it and decide it was too complicated?
