Ngl I used to think pruning was just hacking stuff back

Watched a video of a guy in Oregon who thinned out a cherry tree and it fruited twice as much the next season. That before and after shot convinced me to actually learn proper cuts instead of just trimming whatever looked messy.

Twice the fruit" doesn't sound like it needs that much suspense. Is it really that serious, or just a fancy way of saying extra oranges?
