Used to think a bone folder was just for creasing paper, now I use it for everything from smoothing leather to tucking in headbands

The best part is how it stops you from using your fingernails and wrecking them. I used to tear up my nails opening boxes or peeling stickers, now the bone folder does the dirty work. It's basically a nail saver.

My old bone folder from a bookbinding class ten years ago is my most used tool. It lives on my desk now, not in a drawer. I smooth down vinyl decals with it and it's perfect for getting crisp corners on gift wrap. The rounded end is great for poking out small corners on sewn projects without tearing the fabric. It's just a simple piece of shaped plastic but it does so many jobs better than my fingers. I'll never go back to using a credit card for things like that.
