Yeah, I had the same breakthrough last month. Thinning the adhesive just a bit more than the instructions said made all the difference for me. Suddenly the gold leaf just laid down perfectly.

Check how much you thinned it. What did you use, just water or something else?

Man, I know exactly what you mean. I tried thinning the glue with a little water and alcohol mix, and suddenly the gold leaf went on smooth. Before that, it was always a fight to get it flat. So glad you figured it out, it's a game changer.
