Just finished my 500th book repair, and the number hit me hard.

It was a 1923 edition of 'Leaves of Grass' that needed a full reback. I've been doing this for eight years, and seeing that count made me worry about the sheer volume of work coming in from libraries now. Has anyone else seen their repair queue double in the last year or so?

Could be they're finally replacing all the stuff they digitized years ago.

That's a lot of books, but maybe libraries are just catching up on maintenance they put off. My own backlog is about the same as last year.

My library's backlog is a whole separate building.
