I finally ditched those cheap bookbinding needles from Amazon...

Bought a 20-pack of those no-name needles for $8 last spring, and they kept snapping on me during my coptic stitch bindings. Lost about 30 dollars in wasted thread and ruined two signatures before I gave up. Has anyone else had way better luck with just paying for a quality needle instead of bulk garbage?

Man I went through three packs of those cheapies before I wised up. The third one actually snapped mid-stitch and the broken end flew right into my eye, had to go to urgent care and everything. Honestly the eye visit cost more than a quality needle would have in the first place. Now I just shell out for a single Tulip needle for like $6 and it's lasted me through like 15 books without a single bend. Sometimes the bulk stuff is just false economy you know?

False economy is right" - that urgent care story from @the_rowan is wild, I had a cheap needle snap and it bounced off my cheek, just missed my eye by like half an inch. That was the moment I stopped trying to save $3 and just bought a single good needle.
