Foreman in Toledo told me to quit stacking my rod in the stinger, now I see why
He watched me load 5 rods at once on a vertical up in the mud ring and said the last one always whips loose and tags somebody on the way down. Started feeding one at a time last month, slower but I haven't dropped a rod since. Any of you run a rod caddy that actually holds them clean?
Sounds like your foreman is just being overly careful if you ask me. In ten years of running a stinger I've stacked three or four rods plenty of times and never had one whip loose and tag anybody. Maybe the mud ring is a whole different animal, but hell, one rod at a time on a vertical up sounds like it would take you all day. Some of these old timers got a rule for everything and half of them come from one bad day they had back in 1985. If feeding one at a time works for you then fine, but I would not go around acting like stacking a rod is some death wish.
