I tried a 4-hour solo board game marathon and my brain turned to jelly

Last Saturday I set up a whole day to play through a heavy game called Trickerion all by myself... I thought I was prepared with snacks and coffee. But around the 3 hour mark I started losing track of which turn I was on and kept forgetting to move my workers. By hour 4 I was just staring at the board wondering if I even enjoyed board games anymore. Turns out multiplayer games keep me way more focused because other people keep the pace going. Has anyone else tried solo mode for a long game and just hit a wall like that?

Oh my goodness, did you try taking a proper break or just power through like I would have?

Nah, I powered through too @vera_murphy, but honestly I think that's why it took me twice as long in the end (classic mistake on my part).

...and that's exactly why I started setting a timer for every 90 minutes. I use my phone's alarm, get up, walk around, refill my drink, maybe do five minutes of something mindless on my phone. The hard reset helps me not lose track of where I am when I sit back down. That wall you hit around hour three is real, it usually means your brain just needs a physical break more than a mental one. Did you find yourself making more mistakes in the last hour or just zoning out?
