Almost got banned from my local game store over a 45 minute rules argument
Last Saturday at Dragon's Den in Austin, I spent 45 minutes arguing with a stranger about whether a specific card combo in Arkham Horror actually works. The owner had to come over and settle it. Has anyone else gotten way too heated over a rules interpretation at their local shop?

Oh man, 45 minutes is rookie numbers! I once spent almost two hours arguing with a guy at my local shop about whether a Magic card counted as "targeting" when it said "choose a creature." The owner finally came over and just said "the answer is yes, now stop yelling at each other or I'm kicking you both out." I walked out feeling like a complete idiot, but I still think I was right honestly... maybe.

Wait, do you really think the owner was right to shut you down that fast? The whole point of a game store is to hash out rules properly, not have some guy in a rush make a snap call because you're loud. I've seen people get screwed over by a quick ruling that just ignored actual rulebook text, and that stings way worse than losing an argument. If you were both looking at the same card and disagreeing on what it said, the owner should have at least grabbed the FAQ or errata doc instead of playing referee. Honestly, the time spent arguing shows you both cared enough to get it right, not that you were just being jerks. Sometimes getting heated over a detail means you're respecting the game, not disrespecting the shop.
