Spent $150 on a fancy cat water fountain, now I'm back to a plastic bowl
The pump clogged after 3 weeks and the filter refills cost more than my own drinking water. I tried cleaning it every other day and it still grew that slimy film. Anyone else just give up and let the cat drink from the bathroom sink?

Are we really pretending a plastic bowl is some kind of failure here? Cats have been drinking out of whatever holds water for thousands of years, and somehow they all survived without a $150 machine that needs a filter subscription. I had one of those fountains too, and the noise alone drove me nuts at night. The slime is just biofilm, it happens in any standing water, even the fancy ones. Your cat is probably happier lapping from the sink because the water is colder and fresher anyway.
