My neighbor's 14-year-old son rebuilt my lawn mower and it runs better than new

I let my neighbor's kid tinker with my dead mower after seeing him fix his bike chain. He tore the carburetor apart in my garage on a Saturday and put it back with some wire and a fuel filter from Autozone. It started on the first pull after sitting for 2 years, and now my yard takes half the time because it actually cuts clean. Is this normal for kids these days or did I just get lucky with a mini-engine prodigy?

Well heck, that's something else! But here's what I gotta ask you: did the kid actually know what he was doing with the carburetor, or did he just get lucky with that wire trick? I've seen grown men wreck engines messing with those tiny jets and floats, so a 14-year-old pulling that off on the first try makes me wonder if he's been watching YouTube tutorials or tearing apart small engines for a while now. Like, did he explain what he did while he was working, or was he just silent and focused the whole time? Because if he can talk through the fuel mixture and idle adjustment, that's a whole different level of skill than just fiddling until it fires.
