My shop partner keeps rushing the quenching process and it's ruining our blades.
If you don't let the steel cool slowly, you're just asking for cracks and brittle edges.

Yeah, read somewhere that quenching too fast stresses the steel. The metal needs time to settle its structure or it gets weak. Tell your partner to slow down, it's worth the wait.

Try changing the quenching oil type instead of just the speed. Some grades cool too harshly even if you wait.
