Found out that The Wire only had 60 episodes total across all 5 seasons

I was scrolling through IMDB trivia last night and saw that The Wire only ran for 60 episodes, which feels way too short for how much story they packed in, has anyone else been surprised by how short a binge-worthy show actually was?
