Did he actually say the words "just quit" though? Most uncles say something more like "you should start looking while you still have a paycheck." That is a whole different thing. The people who tell you to walk out the door with nothing lined up are usually the ones who never had to worry about rent. Five months is rough. The lesson is not that your uncle is dumb, it is that job advice from someone who is not paying your bills is worth about what you paid for it.
