That layoff seminar in Dallas made me question "embracing change" as a whole thing

The speaker pushed this whole narrative that losing your job is a hidden gift, but then she admitted she'd never been laid off herself. Half the room nodded along while the other half looked like they wanted to walk out. Is forced change really the same as choosing it, or are we just romanticizing survival? Who else has sat through one of these and felt more confused than inspired?
