Hot take: I fixed a seized seatpost with a simple chemical trick after three days of trying.

A customer brought in a steel-frame touring bike with an aluminum seatpost that was completely frozen. I tried the usual methods: penetrating oil, heat, a bench vise. Nothing moved it after three days of work. Out of ideas, I mixed a 50/50 solution of automatic transmission fluid and acetone, applied it for 24 hours, and it broke free with moderate force. Some mechanics swear by this homebrew mix, while others say it's too harsh and can damage paint or finishes. I'm curious if anyone else has a go-to chemical solution for this problem, or if you think it's a bad practice.

Thought it was a myth until it worked for me.

Read an article where a guy tried it for sleep issues. He said it took about two weeks of doing it every night before he noticed a real change. The key was consistency, even when it felt silly at first.

Too harsh? That mix is a last resort for a reason. Gray644 might call it a myth, but sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire, right?
