From backyard smoker to an actual contest for the first time this weekend
Noticed our town held two small events this year when a few years back there were none. Kinda cool seeing more folks give it a real shot like I finally did.

Backyard smoker" hits home. My first backyard brisket looked like a meteorite. Good luck out there, the real contests are way less forgiving than my dog was.

Yeah, meteorite brisket is a classic beginner move. I once smoked a pork shoulder so long it basically turned into charcoal. My neighbors still joke about the smoke cloud that day.

Saw a buddy try his first comp. His chicken was so rubbery it bounced off the table.
