Switched from clippers to straight razors for necklines about 6 months ago and I'm not going back

I used to just use my trimmers to clean up the neck, but a client named Mark asked me why there was always a little shadow left behind. Tried a straight razor on him the next visit and the difference was night and day, especially on guys with darker hair. Now I keep a few Feather blades stocked and spend the extra 2 minutes per cut. Anyone else make that switch and stick with it, or do you prefer clippers for speed?

Yeah but here's the thing, you're trading a tiny bit of leftover shadow for a much bigger risk of cutting someone. I've seen it happen, a buddy of mine nicked a guy right on the Adam's apple and it bled like crazy, took forever to stop. Plus those Feather blades get expensive if you're going through them fast, and you gotta change them every couple heads or they tug. Clippers are way more forgiving, you can go faster, and most clients can't even see that tiny shadow unless they're staring in a magnifying mirror. I'd rather be done in 30 seconds and move on to the next guy than mess around with a straight razor for a barely noticeable difference.

@the_angela hit the nail on the head about the risk. That Adam's apple nick sounds brutal, I've seen a guy get a razor cut on the jawline that didn't stop for a solid ten minutes even with pressure. Clippers just don't do that kind of damage, worst you get is a little irritation if you press too hard. And the time thing is real too, like with a straight razor you're doing this slow careful dance every time, but clippers you can knock out a clean lineup in under a minute with almost no chance of blood. Plus most guys walking out the door don't pull out a mirror and scrutinize, they just feel smooth and that's good enough.
